OUR GOAL IS TO:

Educate African-American communities and businesses on the importance of starting and sustaining a business.

Ensure that all member chambers are thoroughly informed about laws and regulations that could impact their businesses.

Participate in the legislative process to ensure that African-American businesses are treated with equal opportunities and fairness.

Work with state and corporate allies to openly embrace diversity and inclusion.

The Texas Association of African-American Chambers of Commerce (TAAACC) is a non-profit membership organization. It was established in the mid 1920’s as a means for establishing Negros an opportunity to participate in mainstream commerce due to being denied opportunities for membership into local chambers of commerce.

Specifically, in 1926 a small group of Black businessmen in Dallas, TX established the Dallas Negro Chamber of Commerce. Likewise, through the formation of this organization, Negros were granted an avenue for participating in the business enterprise system.

During the 1950’s an informal “association” of Black Chambers in Texas began to evolve. Consequently, as more Black owned businesses began to emerge, like minded civic leaders and businesses met to strengthen and further the resolve of the association of Black Chambers of Commerce. In 1988 and as a result of a planning meeting, the Texas Association of Black Chambers of Commerce was officially formed. In 1993, the organization changed its name to the Texas Association of African-American Chambers of Commerce, as it is known today.

Today, there are twenty-eight statewide member organizations affiliated with TAAACC. Likewise, TAAACC currently represents more than 10,000 businesses and remains committed and dedicated to building and enhancing the African-American business community in Texas. The Texas Association of African-American Chambers of Commerce is a member of The United States Black Chamber, Inc.
